Mayor stage of the "Festival de la Tonada"	4 nights of "popular attendance"

FESTIVAL NACIONAL DE LA TONADA...
One of the most attended shows in our country... with the presence of mayor artists, "Cuyanos" and others with great popularity and success. This festival is held for the first time November 1972 with the name of "Festival Cuyano de la Tonada, Vendimia y Canto Nacional".

Nowadays, it is held in a natural amphitheatre is the city of Tunuyán, located on the west bank of the Tunuyán river, surrounded by very dense vegetation.

RESERVA NATURAL "EL MANZANO HISTORICO" ^

This tourist place is located ot the foot of the Andes, 40 km. from the city of Tunuyan is has an impressive frame of mountains and unique and special climate.

RETORNO A LA PATRIA MONUMENT … ^

This monument is one of the very few in witch San Martin, our national hero, is wearing a "poncho" and civilian clothes. It was built by the sculptor Luis Perloti by a request made by the "Promonumento" commission, and after 11 years of hard work, it was opened to the public on 31 of December 1950.

* CAJON DE ARENALES ^
Hege walls and granite needles form one of the mayor rock climbing centre in the country. A place where the silence of the huge mass and the adrenaline make and irresistible "coctel".

* LAGUNA DEL TAPON: rodeada de imponentes torres y agujas de granito.

After going past the "Andino Club Tupungato" shelter, we get into the "Quebrada del Cajón, were we have to transpose the "Tapón de grandes Rocas", ibg rocks that hide in their heart the "Arenales" stream and Precious turquoise lake. This is one of the three lakes that remain almost permanently in ths "Quebrada". The other one can be found in the "Quebrada" that goes to the "Tres picos del Amor" and third one going past the "Gran Morena" and "Cascaditas".

* CRISTO MISERICORDIOSO ^
It is a place surrounded by outstanding towers and granite needles...

Located on the east side of the "Cajón de Arenales", in a path within an immaculate Located on the east side of the "Cajón de Arenales", in path within an immaculate landscape...A group of Catholics raised the "Jesús Misericordioso" in the "Tapón de Arenales", which is a figure of Christ 5 metres tall and 10.000 kg. on one side of the road to "Portillo Argentino". The idea was thought by a group of couples from Tunuyán. These dreamers with Servando Burgos, jorge Salinas and Cacho Bagnato asked and artist from Rosario: Saul Police, the Army and some private donations. The materials used were iron, metallics fabrics, ceramics cement, white paste and withe latex. On the 4 of December 1998 the Christ was ready, and it was opened to the public on 6 of December. These is a sign at the foot of the statue that reads: "For the Peace, I trust you".

* MINES OF WOLFRANIO ^

It has a spectacular view of most of the "Manzano Histórico" and the valley of the "Arenales stream"…

The mine is abandoned now and it has many cavities in the side of the "Punta Negra" mount. This material. This material, because of its hardness, is supposed to have been used for war purposes, now it is used mainly in the construction of filaments for light bulbs.

THE LOS ANDES CROSSING - "CRUCE DE LOS ANDES A TRAVÉS DEL PORTILLO ARGENTINO" ^

A part of the trainig is going from the "POTINARI" shelter up to the "SCARAVELLI" shelter.

Walking, on horse back or in mountain bike, the "Andino Club Tunuyán" organises every year the same crossing fot the Andes across the "Portillo Argentino" and the "Piuquenes" path. The same path that San Martin followed on return from his campaign to free Chile and Perú in 1823..

El Cº keops to the right	Scaravelli Shelter

The high valley of the Tunuyán river with its opulation of "Guanacos" and "Condors", the "Real de la Cruz" shelter, the "Quebrada de los Palomares" stream and the mount "Mesón San Juan" with its 6012 m. produce a charm that multiplies with each breath.

Crossing the "Hito de los Piuquenes", you reach the "Termas de Plomo" and then "San Gabriel", the first Chilean town in the "Cajón del Maipo".

* RUTAS SANMARTINIANAS… ^

Visits to historical sites related to the life and work of the most important South American hero: José de San Martín. It is a unique historical adventure that takes you through the same path to a time of great deeds and conquests. Exciting horse rides that follow the steps that the army, led by the General San Martín, followed when they crossed the Andes to free Chile in the XIX century.

* RAFTING IN THE TUNUYAN RIVER ^

The "Tunuyán" river is the only river in Mendoza that has different degrees of difficulty to sail. Being the "Cajón del Alto Rio Tunuyán" one of the most difficult.

Reaching the "Chorro de la Vieja"

From the entrance, the tour lasts 2 or 3 hours approximately, at the beginning, the path is clearly market, there is also a ladder on a small wall of difficult access, to make it easier to reach it.

This town treasures a very important historical-religious inheritance very meaningful for the tourist who loves a pleasant ride that provides spiritual peace, cultural riches and a singular landscape.

Cristo de la Hermandad Piece of art carved by the artist Luis Javin Sissara on the wood of a century-old oak donated by the "Comando de Remonta" and Veterinary of the Argentine Army and Town Hall of Tunuyán. it is 12m. high, 3 m. wide and weights 12.000 kg. Located in the intersection of the provincial routes 89 and 94 and it is 1200 metres above the sea level in "Manzano Historico". .

Here, where the mountains are closer to the vineyears, Tunuyán has been the area with the mayor increase in surface of finest grape vineyard in the last 10 years. Thanks to the investments, of foreign money and the traditional Argentine Wineries concentrated in the search for maximun potencial quality.
